DOZENS of scantily-clad shoppers descended on York for the opening of a new city centre store.
Joy - a new men's and women's fashion shop in the Coppergate Centre - promised a free new outfit of clothes to the first 25 men and women to strip down to their undies to celebrate its opening.
More than 50 people turned up for the grand opening at Coppergate Centre's St Mary's Square wearing nothing, but their underwear or swimming togs.
Store manager Jim Griffin said: "The opening has been fantastic - I don't think I've ever seen so many nearly naked people. It's a bit surreal really.
"We kept getting a lot of people still wanting to take their clothes off long after all the prizes were gone."
