A POOR finish cost North Yorkshire swing king Simon Dyson dear in the BMW Asian Open in China.

In a wet and wild final round at the Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club, the 29-year-old bogeyed the last two holes to card a 74 - leaving him tied for tenth place at four-under-par.

It meant he picked up around £20,000 in prize money - putting him in 30th place in the European Tour Order of Merit. But had the Malton and Norton ace finished with two pars, he would have tied for fifth, and picked up an extra £20,000.

Starting the day at six-under, Dyson parred the first five holes but consecutive bogeys at the par-four sixth and seventh blighted his card. He got one of those shots back at the next hole with a birdie at the par-three and had restored parity when he picked up another shot at the 11th before the finish which marred his day.

The tournament was won by Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin, who shot a final round 73 to take the title by two strokes from Dane Soren Kjeldsen, with Scotsman Simon Yates finishing third.
