EMERGENCY fire crews were at York Hospital after burning toast sparked a blaze in a kitchen.
Alarm bells began ringing at the Wigginton Road site yesterday morning after the toaster caught fire.
Two fire crews arrived at the scene at 9.15am, but the flames had already been put out. The kitchen was left with some smoke damage.
The fire was believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
A hospital spokeswoman said no patients had to be evacuated from the building.
