MEMBERS of the public have come forward to help police catch a suspected rapist, after we published an e-fit of the alleged attacker in The Press.
Yesterday, we revealed how the man was suspected of targeting the lone woman in her 30s as she was walking down Church Lane in Huntington on April 14.
The woman told how she was subjected to the horrific ordeal at about 11.30pm, after spending the evening drinking in the Blacksmiths Arms.
The suspect, thought to originate from Eastern Europe, had also been drinking there. He is described as between five foot six and eight inches tall, of stocky build, a tanned complexion and a beard.
A spokeswoman for York CID said there had been a "good response" to the appeal for information we printed yesterday, but no-one has yet been arrested.
