Careful thought should be given the idea of tagging someone suffering from dementia - and then forget it.
Some of the reasons, from personal experience, are set out below.
If your loved one is missing, a tag showing where they are will not stop the worry.
Will you know when the person steps into a busy road, or collides with a bicycle on the pavement, or meets with one of the many other hazards which we encounter daily?
If such an incident happens it is not much help if you know where they are - you not have prevented anything.
It is a fact that tags do not work all the time, and their signals can be blocked or obscured by different obstacles.
Surely tagging will do little to improve the freedom of living for anyone.
It cannot replace the proper care by an other human being in a safe environment.
