IN READING coun Ann Reid's letter (Readers' Letters, April 23), I was delighted to learn that the city councillors are now respecting local residents' right to peace and quiet by not supporting out-of-hours work at Holgate Bridge.
As a long-time resident living close to the busy junction of Boroughbridge Road and Carr Lane, can I now look forward to not having my evenings disrupted after 19pm or being woken at the crack of dawn on a Saturday morning by the ear-splitting rattle of road-breakers?
