University Staff Men's team kept in touch with promotion in the men's third division of the York Badminton League with a 6-3 win over RI Tuesday/Thursday C'.

Lim Eng Kiat and Kiao Cheng Ge put in the best campus display with a 143-95 win, including a 13 and 17 over Bill Clemitt and Tony Kirkham, who took two Railway wins.

Huntington Ladies hit good form to beat University Staff 8-1 in ladies division one.

Lisa McCLaren and Chiara Secchi led the way for the Sutton on Derwent-based team with three straight wins for 130-72.

Riverside A' turned up the heat in mixed one with a narrow 5-4 win over Clifton B'.

Geoff Oxley and Margaret Sinclair put in their best display of the season to take all three for 142-105, including a match-winning 16-21, 21-14, 21-10 over Duncan Coulson and Lucy Smith.

Selby Drax A' boosted their chances of staying in mixed one with an 8-1 defeat of local rivals Selby Jubilee A'. Scott Anderson and Michelle Hall put in the best display for Drax with 146-92, while James Dawson and Val Bell capped a good display for Jubilee by taking the consolation.

Selby/Drax B' team's battle against relegation in mixed two was hit by two 5-4 defeats, to Huntington A' and Clifton C', but they bounced back to beat Knavesmire 5-4. John Formby and Gayle Bradley picked up vital wins to take five from six for a total of 258-173 in the games against Clifton and Knavesmire.

Clive Debenham and Bev Tebbutt, who led Huntington home in that win over Drax, also won a point against Nestlé Rowntree A' but could not prevent the latter completing a league double with an 8-1 win. Mel Knowles and Jeff Whittaker gave their best display of the season with three straight wins for 126-91.

Sandburn Hall hit good form to beat Clifton C' 6-3. Jo Wade and Chris Schofield led the way again for the hosts with another impressive display that brought them a return of 126-91.

Fulfordgate A' made it three wins in a row with an 8-1 win at Selby/Drax C' in mixed three.

Hazel Winfield and Matt Hobman returned to form with three straight Fulfordgate wins for 126-70. Ruth and Stuart Baxter took the Selby/Drax consolation.

Shepherds B' were good value for a 9-0 win at Univer-sity Staff Club B' in mixed four. Paul Elliott and Jeanette Gilbert, in their first match this season, took all three for 129-83 in straight sets.

Selby Jubilee B' maintained their form with a 5-4 win at a strong RI Tuesday/ Thursday B' team. Lynne Redman and Simon Benson were the pick of the pairs with all three for 143-105, which included the match-winning 17-21, 21-17, 21-13 win over Mike Edwards and Marlene Woodward.
