Exciting finishes graced the New Earswick IBC League play-off finals.
The Veteran Gentlemen's Fours saw Lol Stephenson's team lead Bob Howland's four 11-10 after 13 ends and they finished strongly to retain their title 22-12.
In the Vets Gent's Triples, Alwyn Fletcher's rink were always in front, retaining their title 22-13 against Ron Wood's team.
The Vets Mixed Triples went down to the last end, after the lead had changed hands four times during the match. Doug Petty's rink held a two-shot lead, before Ray Prosser's team rallied with a four to take the title 14-12.
In the Gent's Fours, John Stroughair's team trailed 16-15 to Paul Dawson after 16 ends but a six on the next set them up for a 25-17 victory.
Another tight game in the Gent's Triples saw Les Jackson's team tying 16-16 with Pete Ransom's team at 14 ends, before the latter scored a four on the next end and hung on to win 21-18.
The Gent's Pairs proved to be a close encounter with Ian Farrar's team 18-11 down after 16 ends. A five on the 20th left them needing a three to steal the match but they could only manage a single leaving Ralph Tiplady's team with the victory by one shot.
Bert Keech took the Club Mixed Fours title 21-17 against Heworth Cons, and Post Office triumphed 16-11 over Greenhills.
In the Mixed Pairs, Ray Prosser's team conceded to Millie Howland, while in the Mixed Triples, Barry Johnson's team were never behind and ran out 18-13 winners over Andrew Fothergill's team.
In the ladies fours, Audrey Imeson's team were always in control against Jean Cooper's four and won 24-15.
In the Ladies Triples, Margaret Moss's team was quickly off the mark leading 11-0 after just three ends and ran out 21-14 winners over Betty Thompson's team.
By contrast the Ladies Pairs between Val Fort and Mavis Hardcastle was nip and tuck with the teams tying 18-18 after 20 ends. Hardcastle's team scored the all-important single to take the title on the last end.
