COUNCIL bosses have apologised after inaccurate data relating to councillors' performances was made available online only days before York's election.
City of York Council admitted the councillor attendance statistics placed on its website were incorrect.
The Press had hoped to publish details of how many meetings each councillor had attended or missed over the past 12 months, ahead of them seeking re-election next Thursday.
But the newspaper has been unable to do so after the authority's democratic services department admitted the blunder.
The statistics have now been removed from the council website.
Dawn Steel, democratic services manager at the council, said the councillor attendance figures for 2006/07 on the council's website were not up to date due to technical difficulties with new software.
