FOLLOWING a stiff selection procedure, seven crews and scullers from York City Rowing Club were chosen to represent Yorkshire at the Junior Inter Regional Regatta held at the National Watersports Centre, Nottingham.
The York junior Under-16 double scull of Chris Wright and Tom Koroejko recorded the county's best result in the Junior Inter Regional Regatta gaining the silver medal and missing out on gold by only 0.16 of a second, over the 1,500 metre long course, in a time of 5 min 52.31 seconds.
The duo were in bronze position with 500 metres to go but pushed their opposition ever harder in the closing stages.
They were catching the leaders so quickly at the end, that had the race been a few metres longer, they would have crossed the line first.
The junior U15 double scull of James Reeder and Owen Harrison only just missed out on the medals, coming fourth in a difficult headwind.
Iona Harrap and Rebecca Turley also made their grand final in Women's U14 double sculls and came in a well deserved fifth.
The junior U15 quadruple scull of Nick Bartlett, Tom Calvert, Joe Feeney and Charlie Nicholson, coxed by Alice Hood, missed out on a place in their grand final by just two one-hundredths of a second.
In the petite final, this crew led from start to finish and won by over a length, ranking them seventh.
Three other York City crews were also competing and helped gained the region valuable points.
