Clifton-with-Rawcliffe have secured probably the easiest to predict League championship in York Primary Schools League B'.

They have now won eight out of eight games, their most recent victories coming over Poppleton Ousebank and Robert Wilkinson, 4-1 and 2-0 respectively. Jack Davies' goal for Poppy Ousebank was the first scored against Clifton in the League so far.

While they have been so consistent the teams below them have continued to take points off each other, but Hempland secured the runners-up slot with a 3-1 win over Poppleton Ousebank, for whom Jack Lambert netted, and a 3-0 win at Woodthorpe.

Huntington's form has improved as shown by taking a creditable 2-2 against Hempland. Finding themselves two down at the break, Huntington fought back to level with a Tom Barnes brace, the first following good work by Rowan Todd. They also won 3-0 at Poppleton Ousebank with Todd himself securing a couple of goals, Thomas Currie adding a third. Adam Copley performed well in goal.

League D' looks to be going to the wire in the final week.

St Wilfrid's produced a major shock as they overturned leaders Dunnington. In a game which produced three superb strikes, it was St Wilf's who took the honours 2-1, with a Mitchell Halder double. Dunnington teacher Phil Martinez said: "St Wilfrid's showed more passion and deserved their win."

St Wilfrid's then crowned this display with a 3-2 success at St Aelred's. A ding-dong battle saw Halder score two more, and Jack Fisher score the winner with a header at a corner.

Dunnington remain top having gone to nearest rivals Fishergate and fought out a high-tempo duel. James Todd in goal for Dunnington was in fine form, with Cameron Thompson and Lewis Holmes also to the fore in defence. Fishergate had Kristian King taken away in an ambulance having hurt his back, but thankfully there was no lasting damage.

Osbaldwick look to have secured another title in League E', having taken eight from a possible nine points in the past couple of weeks. They had already beaten Knavesmire comfortably 5-0 with forward line Jonny Rawsthorne, James Hudson and Gareth Boyes doing the damage with some superb football.

New Earswick proved a tougher nut to crack and a 1-1 draw was a fair result in a game which produced spirited performances on both sides. In the return, Oso sneaked a 2-1 win to practically secure the title, and win a chance to defend their Champions league title.

Elsewhere, St Lawrence's won two matches against Knavesmire, both 3-1, for whom Bailey Simpson and Max Lakin were on target.

Ralph Butterfield made a real fist of snatching the title of League A' away from Bishopthorpe, but ultimately fell two goals short.

Needing to win by two clear goals, they were two up in five minutes against Lakeside, but the Clifton Moor school settled into the game after their shaky start, and defended resolutely. Despite Billy Chadwick hitting the bar late on for Butterfield, it was ultimately a frustrating day. Teacher Andy Daniel was magnanimous, declaring: "All in all, a fantastic finale to a nail-biting season. Congratulations to Bishopthorpe on retaining their title."

Lakeside crept above Ralph Butterfield in League G' with a fine 3-2 victory against them.

Lakeside led 2-0 after ten minutes, but Butterfield rallied with a superb strike from Ben Whitmore, and gained parity with a well-placed effort from Stephen Martin.

Despite both sides having chances in an open second-half it was Lakeside who broke away to score the winner in the dying minutes.

Headlands have finally put to bed the challenge of Yearsley Grove in League C', but were indebted to Poppleton Road in the first instance who won a tight game against Yearsley 2-1.

Headlands then won 3-1 at Poppy Road for whom Luke Addison scored, and then beat Yearsley earlier this week 2-0 to seal it.

It is a case of what might have been in League F', as Our Lady's thrashed Skelton 7-0. Eren Barker, Connor Ryan and Harry Webb were all on target, with Billy Orpe playing well in goal.

It didn't get much better for Skelton at home against Elvington. A Thomas Kyle strike was all they had to show in a 4-1 reverse. St Mary's also won 5-1 against Rufforth in the same division.
