CITY of York Hockey Club's Under-13 girls emulated the boys U13s by finishing as runners-up in the North of England National Mini Championships at Durham University.
In their opening pool match they fought back from 2-1 down against Yarm to win 3-2 with goals from Georgina Grant (2) and Sarah Clay.
Charlotte Worsman earned York a 1-1 draw with St Bede's School which set up the final pool game against Arnold School to see who would be first and second in the group. Grant was on target again, however Arnold won 3-1.
In the semi-finals York beat Kirkham School, who had won all three of their pool matches, 3-0 with Clay, Grant and Lauren Boddison on target.
That set up a re-match in the final against Arnold, who came out on top, 2-0, to take the spoils.
