POLICE have arrested a man after a woman was raped as she walked home after a night out in York.
Detectives investigating the attack arrested a man on Monday night. He was questioned by police and later released on bail.
The Press told on Monday how police were hunting for a suspected rapist who targeted and allegedly subjected a woman in her 30s to the ordeal on the night of Saturday, April 14.
The victim had been drinking in The Blacksmith's Arms, in The Old Village, Huntington, during the evening.
She told officers she was walking alone down isolated Church Lane, in Huntington, at about 11.30pm when she was approached from behind and attacked. Detectives have carried out house-to-house inquiries after the incident.
Local ward councillor Carol Runciman warned other women to avoid walking on their own at night.
