A NORTH Yorkshire soprano sensation will be singing her heart out to raise more vital funds for cancer research.
Well-known local musician Demelza Stafford is putting on a major concert in memory of her grandfather, Chris Stafford, a former postmaster from Hambleton, near Selby, who died from the disease.
Demelza will be joined by her accompanist, Yoko Hirao, and the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir, led by musical director Berenice Lewis.
The 26-year-old is well known for her performances at local charity events.
She has also sung on the streets of York and at our Community Pride awards - but this is the first time she has organized a whole concert herself.
Proud mum Elizabeth said: "The venue has fabulous acoustics and while many people will have heard Demelza perform at weddings and dinners, at the BBC Northern Sports Personality of the Year Awards, the York Community Pride Awards and even performing in the streets of York, you should not miss this opportunity to hear her perform in this theatre."
The concert is taking place on Saturday, June 9, at The Riley Smith Hall, Tadcaster, at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £10 and can be bought by by sending your name and address along with a cheque to Demelza Stafford at 12 Millcroft Brayton Selby YO8 9HL.
Alternatively, phone 01757 702 846, or pay by credit or debit card for £11 online from her website www.demelzastafford.com
