DRINGHOUSES have been crowned the new Team Knockout winners in the John Smith's York Sunday Pool League.
They beat Fossway B' 5-3 in the final held at York Health Services Club.
Mark Warrick and Danny Bhanvra gave Fossway a flying start by winning the opening two frames but Dringhouses hit back through Nigel Macdonald and then a total clearance, including a superb black by Lisa Macdonald, to square the match.
Another win from Nigel Macdonald put Dringhouses in front until a brilliant display of potting from Fossway's Kev Boden again brought the scores level.
Alan Horner took advantage of a foul by his opponent when in a good position to put Dringhouses 4-3 up with Alan Haithwaite securing the match in a tense final frame.
The defeat means that Fossway B' are runners up in both the league and the team knockout which was a tremendous effort in their first season in the league.
Clifton received the league winners' trophy for the third consecutive year while Andy Shepherd received the Singles Trophy for the second year running.
Ian Jones collected the Captain Cup to go with the Doubles Trophy he won with Mick Watson.
Clifton skipper Jonny Mitchell took the Player of the Season' award after being runner-up the previous year.
