I AM writing to inquire whether anyone has experienced the same issue I have with First York buses.
I returned home from university on Saturday morning and caught the bus outside the station.
I only had a £10 note to pay for my fare as I'd just been to the cash machine. The driver then refused to actually issue me with a fare, and didn't want to or couldn't provide me with change.
It's absurd that a bus company cannot provide change for a tenner. Not only that, but the driver was rude and uncompromising, suggestions for resolving the situation being asking other occupants for change or going over to a shop to get change, which would mean missing the bus.
I would be interested to know whether the driver, who was very rude, would have spoken or reacted like that to someone older?
I think it's unacceptable that First York cannot accommodate change and their drivers are rude about it. I have written a letter to the company about this issue, but I'd be interested to see if this is a big issue with First York, or whether I was unlucky and just got a bad apple.
