ASPIRING Green candidate Denise Craghill, pictured, says Fulford Main Street needs to be safer for pedestrians.
She said: "Residents have been calling for better crossing points across this very busy road for many years now and progress has been painfully slow, while traffic has been getting worse. I am especially concerned about the lack of action on a refuge at the northern end of Main Street near the bus stops. At times it is very difficult indeed to cross at all."
A proposal for a refuge went to committee in November 2004 after an initial consultation, but Denise said: "Officers suggested a slightly different location opposite the Pavilion Hotel and the committee agreed a second consultation should take place.
"Since then, absolutely nothing has happened."
