THERE is a brilliant new service at Asda, Monks Cross, for those who need regular or a one-off blood test.
I recently suffered a deep vein thrombosis and was put on Warfarin for a few months. I now have to have frequent blood tests. Parking at York Hospital is a nightmare and expensive. The clinic there is wonderfully efficient but very busy.
However, at Asda there is no charge for parking (up to three hours) and parking is easy. There are no queues to give blood. No appointment is necessary. The nurse is an NHS fully-qualified nurse from the hospital, and if you go before 10am you have your results telephoned that same day.
So if more people used Asda to give their samples, the hospital would be less busy and that would help everyone. You could even do your shopping at Monks Cross on the same visit.
