A VAN suffered huge damage when it burst into flames on the A1(M) in North Yorkshire today.
The fire happened on the northbound carriageway between Junctions 48 and 49, between Boroughbridge and Dishforth, just after 1.05pm.
A blue Mercedes Sprinter van, believed to have travelled from the Leeds area, was badly damaged.
One lane was blocked but the road remained open otherwise. Nobody was hurt.
Police officers took these photos at the scene, and Sgt Paul Cording tweeted:
Not much left of the van but the main thing is no ones injured. Thanks to @HighwaysYORKS waiting with it for recovery pic.twitter.com/5H6ovsKGEa
