WILL City of York Council's two new special litter enforcement officers be visiting Norwich Union's adopted smoking area next to the river near Lendal Bridge?
It is left in a disgusting state with hundreds of cigarette ends and, more seriously, dozens of empty packets strewn around the area.
A bin has been provided but this is broken and overflowing and is a real eyesore - especially to the visitors to this city who must be appalled at the mess.
The whole area from Lendal Bridge to Ouse Bridge is neglected yet it is used by visitors to the city as a pleasant riverside walk with a small "park area" to relax in. In reality, it is usually a dirty, smelly area that should be avoided.
