A FEW weeks ago I asked a question in The Press who paid for the loss of car park revenue and extra policing at the funeral of Lord David Wharton (Who pays? Readers' Letters, April 17).
Having had no answers from the powers that be, one presumes that there was no charge. If this was the case can I ask a similar question of the police authority?
I have recently attended the York City v Oxford United game at KitKat Crescent and witnessed a very heavy police presence there.
Who foots the bill for this; and if, as I suspect, it is the football club, can anyone explain what is the difference between policing a private funeral and a public event where it would seem the risk of trouble is the same?
