LIKE many York residents I do my best to recycle as much of our whole household rubbish as possible; it's good for the planet, it makes you feel virtuous etcetera etcetera.
Until yesterday I had four fantastic heavy duty plastic boxes with ingenious interlocking lids for all of our recycling. The men from the council duly emptied them yesterday morning, stacked them altogether and left them at the end of the drive.
As I didn't have time to take them in I left them for my husband to deal with on his return from work. However, some helpful individual decided to take them in for us; not into our garden, you understand, but off to only they know where! Recycling recycling boxes obviously.
I'm not quite sure what my point is, other than I am incensed that you try to do your bit and some thieving so-and-so feels that they have the right to steal from you.
If the boxes don't find their way home do I stop recycling and run the risk of being fined, or shall I buy four more and help the light-fingered one on their way to a fantastic storage solution for their home/business?
And if you're reading this - bring back my boxes!
