TEACHERS who helped save the life of a teenager who collapsed at school have been honoured by a national charity.
Fulford School teachers Katrina Fairbairn, Shona Jagger, Erica Melsom and Sue Igoe have all been given a prestigious SADS UK National Lifesaver Awards.
The teachers got the award at a celebratory dinner at the Royal College of Nursing in London, and TV's Dr Christian Jessen gave out the awards.
The quartet was praised by SADS UK founder Anne Jolly.
She said: "It is good to hear that life-saving action was taken so quickly, early CPR and defibrillation are absolutely vital when a person suffers a cardiac arrest. The incident proves how important it is for schools to have defibrillators on the premises.
"This life save endorses the aims of SADS UK Big Shock Campaign to ensure that all schools have lifesaving defibrillators in place."
Last week the quartet were named The Press Community Pride Teachers of the Year.
