THE first outpatient clinics will reopen at Bootham Park Hospital in York next week - four months after patient services were moved out of the hospital.
Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV), the new provider of mental health and learning disability services across the Vale of York, has confirmed that patients will start to be seen at Bootham Park Hospital from Monday.
Some minor work is still to be completed but the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has given the go ahead to move outpatient clinics back to the hospital.
Talking therapies and psychology appointments will take place at Bootham Park Hospital from Monday and other clinics will move back over the coming weeks.
Bootham Park Hospital closed to all patient services at the end of September 2015 following an inspection by the CQC. Since then appointments have taken place at alternative venues across York.
Some appointments will continue to be scheduled in other convenient locations across the city.
The trust is moving clinics back gradually to avoid disrupting existing appointments and patients will receive information about where to attend in their appointment letters.
Ruth Hill, director of operations for York and Selby, said: “This is another important step in re-establishing services.
“We appreciate that this continues to be a very unsettling time for local people and we understand their frustrations.
“We would like to reassure everyone that we are doing all we can to bring back services to York as quickly as possible.”
