BEER lovers are spoilt for choice once again in York this coming week, with four mouthwatering events to look out for around the city.

Let's start, as many of you no-doubt will, in Patrick Pool.

York Press:

On Wednesday night, Pivní is hosting a "meet-the-brewer" night and tap-takeover with Bad Seed Brewery, from Malton. The Bad Seed team will be showcasing five of their cask beers and seven keg beers, and answering customers' questions.

On cask, there will be Session IPA, Waimea, Cascade American Pale, IPA and the Electric Hopfenweisse collaboration with Wild Weather Ales. On keg will be Saison, Farmhouse IPA, Hefeweizen, Vic Secret Sour, Cascade American Pale, Cascadian Dark Ale and the Cookie Monster collaboration with Left Handed Giant Brewing Co.

The following night, from 7pm, Great Heck Brewery are the guests of honour at a similar event, at The Postern Gate, the Wetherspoon's pub at the foot of Piccadilly.

There will be six Great Heck beers: Treasure IPA, Shankar IPA, Dave, Voodoo Mild, Mount Mosaic, and Christopher.

Beers will be from £2.49 a pint and there will also be pork pies and snacks, and a "What the Heck?" quiz sheet for guests to try. The winner will receive a gallon of ale, and Great Heck owner and brewer Denzil Vallance will be on hand to chat to drinkers and to answer questions.

The pub has been running such events roughly once a month of late, and Karl Brolly from the pub says they have been popular. After next week's, the next event will be with Hop Studio Brewery, from Elvington, on June 16.

Then from Friday to Sunday, attention turns to The Slip in Clementhorpe. Regular readers may recall that we recently mentioned that the pub was expanding, and next weekend provides an ideal opportunity to take a look, as it is hosting a three-way brewery battle.

Atom, Saltaire and Blackjack breweries will be taking part, with six beers from each to try. The event begins at 3pm on Friday (May 27) and continues from noon on the Saturday and Sunday and punters are invited to vote for their favourites. There will also be hot food and live music over the weekend.

And finally... Up at Strensall, The Ship Inn is hosting a four-day beer and music festival, for the Bank Holiday weekend. There will be music from Skint on Friday, Soal Rida on Saturday and Pinx Tinker on Sunday. On the bar will be six beers, including two from Helmsley and two from Yorkshire Heart.

Enjoy!
