FORMER York athlete turned actor Richard Buck will be appearing in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe next month.
The 29-year-old will be in the comedy Paper in my Pants, at The Forest Theatre from August 15 to 20.
He said: “I was originally aiming to be at the Rio Olympics. However I had applied to Birmingham School of Acting and was offered a place. I knew that taking on another Olympics would require my full focus and would not allow for me to continue my pursuit of acting so I announced my retirement last year. Since then I have been fully focused on my development as an actor... and I’ve not regretted my decision once.”
He added: “I’m really excited to be going to the Edinburgh Fringe and showcasing a wonderful new play. It is a great opportunity, not only for me but for all our cast. I think we have something really special to contribute.”
Mr Buck secured seven medals at World and European Championships before moving into acting.
A spokesperson for Paper in my Pants producers SMARTarts said: “We are glad Richard opted for acting and from what we have seen can assure you the quality that saw him rise to international status as an athlete has transferred."
