STAFF from a car finance firm will run over all sorts of obstacles so babies can get specialist medical help.
Thirteen colleagues from Synergy Automotive of Harrogate, including managing director Paul Parkinson, will take part in the Yorkshire Warrior Wild Waters race on September 24 at Ripley Castle as they raise £5,000 to provide blood pressure and exhaled nitrous oxide equipment for Harrogate Hospital Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).
Their company has also joined forces with The Rainbow Fund which has given the same unit a £33,000 transport incubator to carry critically-ill babies between hospitals.
SCBU senior sister Kim Pitt said the new incubator would enable them to continue a vital service for babies.
“The tireless support we continue to receive for the unit is inspirational. We were no longer able to service our current incubator and thanks to The Rainbow Fund and Variety, the children’s charity, our new incubator will allow us to continue this vital service for the babies in our care.
“We’re also delighted with the news that Synergy Automotive is making a major contribution by providing much needed equipment which will make a big difference to those we look after.”
