A YORK schoolgirl has been selected to follow in the bike tracks of Laura Trott and her heroic Team GB medal winners.
Anna Docherty, a Year 12 pupil at All Saints RC School, has been picked to join the highly competitive Great Britain Junior Academy, the under 18 step of British Cycling’s Performance Pathway.
Anna started her cycling career at just nine with Clifton Cycling Club and very quickly rose through the ranks.
Before being accepted on the Junior Academy, she has already enjoyed a successful 2016 and won a National Championship Track Cycling event.
Paul Stavridis, assistant head teacher and Sixth Form leader, said: “We are incredibly proud of her achievements and celebrate them as a community, despite Anna’s reluctance to draw attention to herself.”
