So what better time than to look back at their industrial heyday, when they housed thousands of Rowntree workers.
The 67 photos above have been supplied to us by Alex Hutchinson, heritage manager at Nestlé.
Some show the buildings under construction, some show them from the outside, and others show workers on the production and packing lines inside.
The site has been sold as one L-shaped building but was originally three. The almond block was built in 1908, the cream block in 1936 and the cream block extension in 1938.
