SPECIAL sewing workshops were held in York Minster to support global project today.
Volunteers took to the North Transept to support global project Days For Girls and to mark International Women’s Day, by helping to make washable, easy-to-use feminine hygiene kits for girls in developing countries.
Hundreds of women around the country were expected to take part in the event, which last year saw 80 kits created and more than £600 raised in York. Rev Ellie Bangay, York Minster’s Curate, worked with Rotary York Ainsty to organise the event. Rev Bangay said: “The workshops offer a practical, hands-on way to make a real difference to the lives of women and girls in communities across the world who are missing school days, risking infection and in some communities, being locked away.”
