A CHOCOLATEY tour of sweets galore is launching at York Castle Museum in time for Easter.
The museum is home to sweet and chocolate collections including rarely seen advertising and packaging for brands such as Kit Kat, After Eight, Yorkie and Terry’s Chocolate Orange, sweet making moulds and tools and even a tin of cocoa which went on Shackleton’s expedition to the Antarctic.
These will be going on show throughout the museum and interpreted in different ways, such a new sweet shop on Kirkgate, a sweet making machine on the Toy Gallery and, during holiday periods, sweet and chocolate demonstrations in the Chocolate Factory.
The exhibition, ‘Chocolate: York’s Sweet Past’, starts tomorrow and runs until early next year.
