SO yet another lovely old building in York has been razed to the ground for houses (The Press, March 28).
Why? The old fire station in York could have been turned into a museum on the history of the fire brigade.
A cafe? Or even keep the building as it was and renovate the inside.
But no, it’s just demolished to be replaced by houses.
York’s original buildings are unique and historical, so why change them?
Surely it will cost more to rebuild than renovate, but sadly knocking them down seems to be the norm now as York becomes a concrete jungle.
