A NEW company is taking over the running of household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) in North Yorkshire.
Yorwaste, which is jointly owned by North Yorkshire County Council and City of York Council, has won the contract to run the county council’s 20 HWRCs.
It will take over from previous contractor Kier on April 1, and 84 staff who were employed by Kier will transfer to Yorwaste.
HWRCs operate summer opening hours from 1 April until the end of September, opening at 8.30am and closing at 5pm, every day except Wednesday. A list of all HWRCs can be found at www.northyorks.gov.uk/hwrc
