EMPLOYEES from across Yorkshire and the Humber will be pushed to their limits at a challenging two day course at a York Army barracks.

They will descend on Strensall Barracks to take part in Exercise Executive Stretch, an initiative based on military training designed to develop their leadership, team working and communication skills.

The event is organised by the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (RFCA) and run by 4th Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment from from May 4 to 6.

Richard Lenton, of the RFCA, said: “Participants don’t have to be super fit, but they do need to be prepared to work hard and get stuck in. The challenges are based outdoors and are very practical, but all are designed to test resolve, team work and logical thinking as well as leadership ability. Previous participants have thoroughly enjoyed taking part and have seen real benefits once they’ve returned to work.”

Last year over 100 people from 20 businesses took part in challenges including a search and rescue exercise to locate and recover a downed pilot, a simulated search for bombs and a detailed look at weapons systems – including a live fire event, as well as numerous physical challenges.

Major Dave Prew, of The Yorkshire Regiment, said: “As well as learning new skills and having fun, those taking part get the chance to find out more about themselves.”
