VISITORS to a village’s scarecrow festival this weekend will not go hungry - with a cafe planning to serve lashings of tea and cake.
Café Refresh at the Poppleton Centre will be open from 10am to 4pm today and tomorrow for hungry sightseers to pick up a sweet treat before and after they see the scarecrows located around the village.
There will also be a tombola, bouncy castle and ice creams to tempt visitors.
Beth Kirkham, Poppleton Centre manager, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors from all over York to our community centre here in Poppleton.
“We have 25 amazing scarecrows on display around the village and there is a question to answer at each scarecrow, completed questions sheets will be collected and the lucky winner will win a family ticket to our firework spectacular on November 5.”
