A CHARITY'S furniture shop in Selby will provide a true 1940s shopping experience this month.
The St Leonard's Hospice shop, in Ousegate, has a vintage emporium in half of the shop on a permanent basis, but it is ramping up the nostalgia on September 24.
Shop staff and volunteers are inviting shoppers to step back in time with a wide range of vintage clothing, furniture and home accessories available to buy. Admission is free but £2.50 will get you your very own ration card for some wartime refreshments.
Carol Calvert, shop manager, said: "We love all things vintage and retro here in the shop on Ousegate anyway but we’ll be celebrating the 1940s in true wartime style, and we’d love for lots of people to join us.
"We may even have some themed entertainment to really get everyone in the mood. As always, all the funds we raise go to help the work of the hospice in caring for local people and their families.”
The event is from 9am to 3.30pm and admission is free.
