A YOUNG photographer has made numerous visits to York's St Nicholas Fair to capture the perfect picture of independent traders at their stalls.
Miles Halley, 17, a photography student in year 13 at All Saints RC School, has taken the festive portraits for an A-level project investigating street photography.
He has given each of the traders a hard copy of their portrait and asked them to complete a questionnaire to find out how far they travel to the fair, their trading history and how much of their annual sales come from the fair.
Portraits of more than 30 traders, along with details from the questionnaires, will culminate in one large artwork as part of his A-level photography coursework.
The piece will also be a part of the school's annual art exhibition next July, showcasing the work of A-level and GCSE students across Art, Photography and Textiles courses.
Phil Norton, Head of Art at the school, said: "It shows real courage for a photographer his age to go out and engage with the public. This series of portraits documents the people behind this diverse market and the pride they have in their products.
"He really has done a superb job in capturing their personalities."
Miles has also spent many hours recently photographing people at York train station, including train enthusiasts, hen parties and railway staff.
