WATCH Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone under the stars at York Minster this summer as al fresco cinema returns to York.

Families and film fans can enjoy a picnic before settling down to watch the film projected onto a large screen.

Open air cinema company The Luna Cinema has toured the country organising outdoor screenings for the past 10 years, but this is the first time they have announced dates at York Minster.

Pan’s Labyrinth will be shown on August 28, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will be screened on August 29 and The Greatest Showman will be shown on August 30.

George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema, said: “We know that our regular audiences look forward to the day our programme is released as it heralds the prospect of warmer, lighter summer evenings where they can come and experience a classic film on the big screen against a jaw-dropping backdrop.”

There will also be screenings at Bolton Abbey and Harewood House.

Ticket prices range from £13.50 to £20 for adults and from £9 to £13.50 for children and will go on sale later this month at thelunacinema.com.
