A SEX offender who made indecent comments to a woman passenger at York Railway Station has been jailed for 20 weeks.
David Karl Hampton, 52, had 29 previous convictions for sexual offences committed over 20 years before the incident on December 29, York magistrates heard.
He came up behind the stranger as she walked into the station and spoke quietly into her ear as he told her what he would do sexually to her.
Steve Munro said he hadn’t deliberately targeted the woman.
Hampton, of Tostig Avenue, Acomb, pleaded guilty to a public order offence.
It was the second year in a row Hampton has caused problems for travellers over the Christmas period.
On December 27, 2016, he stole a great-grandfather’s camera and camera equipment. That offence was committed shortly after he had served a two-year sentence for sexual harassment.
