The Falcon Tap pub in Micklegate has been sold to Almero Holdings for an undisclosed sum as the develop looks to expand its “professional housing offer” across the UK.
Almero Holding has said it plans to create an aparthotel scheme within the property, while retaining the public house in the ground floor.
The four storey Grade II listed property was sold by on behalf of a private clients by the specialist markets team at CBRE in Leeds.
The pub will be retained with planning granted for external alterations. The remaining site will be converted into an aparthotel with planning granted for the renovation of the upper floors to form two apartments, and construction of two residential blocks to the rear to create nine apartments.
Sam Portrykus, senior surveyor for the specialist markets team at CBRE Leeds, said: “We are pleased to announce the recent sale of the Falcon Tap pub to Almero Holdings.
“The proposed aparthotel scheme will be a welcome addition to Micklegate, which has experienced a cultural transformation and is fast becoming more gentrified.
“York is an attractive cathedral city and internationally renowned tourist attraction, so the new development promises to complement the thriving pub and bar scene in the area.”
CBRE, which acted as joint agents to the vendor with Steadman Brierley, said the properties appeal includes its “prominent position fronting Micklegate”, with properties contain a mix of residential and commercial occupiers, including Brew Dog and the Lawrence Luxury Apart-Hotel.
The pub was previously called The Falcon, and before that was known as Rumours for more than a decade before changing hands in December 2014.
