TWO members of staff who were suspended at a York prep school after unsecured air rifles and ammunition were discovered on the premises have been reinstated.
However, The Press understands that the head teacher at Minster School, Alex Donaldson, remains suspended.
The school, based in Deangate, has 180 pupils between the ages of three and 13 and is governed by the Chapter of York.
It was revealed last month how the then Chair of Governors, former Dean of York, the Very Revd Dr Vivienne Faull, had written to parents to say three staff members had been suspended pending the outcome of a disciplinary investigation.
She said she knew this news would be a "cause for concern" but wanted to reassure parents no child was at risk and no child had been harmed.
But a parent and past member of the school’s parents committee claimed then the way staff were treated was “completely disproportionate", adding that parents were appalled, and the staff were nearly unanimously supported and beloved by current and past students.
Dr Faull left her post as Dean on Monday to become the new Bishop of Bristol, with The Reverend Canon Peter Moger, Canon Precentor at the Minster, taking over as Acting Dean and therefore governor’s chair.
He has since written to parents to say one of the teaching staff would "return to a full teaching timetable" at the school on Friday, adding: “We cannot share any further information with you.”
Another of the three is understood to have returned to work some time ago, leaving the head as the only staff member believed to be still suspended.
Before Dr Faull left, she wrote to parents to say all parties were doing all they could to ensure the disciplinary process was concluded as quickly as possible.
Numerous parents are understood to have written previously to her, calling for staff reinstatement and expressing concern at the time taken by the disciplinary process.
