YORK teenagers will be busking, selling cakes and washing cars to help the elderly and sick in the city next week.
The group of 16 year olds will be raising money to support patients at St Leonard’s Hospice and care home residents at Amarna House, Acomb.
The teenagers are taking part in a social action project as part of their four-week long National Citizen Service scheme.
More than 20 of them will be carrying out a range of fundraising activities in York from Monday, including running market stalls selling cakes and operating a car wash at Bishopthorpe.
Eva Pears, 16, from Fulford, who will also be performing with her NCS group for residents at Amarna House, said: “This project is really great because there is a big gap between old people and young people and by volunteering this bridges the gap a little bit. Please come and support us next week.”
