TWO people have been taken to hospital after a crash on the A19 this morning (January 11).
Police were called to the two-vehicle crash near Riccall at about 7.30am. Fire and ambulance crews also attended.
The road was blocked for more than two hours, causing long delays. It was cleared at about 9.55am.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire fire service, which sent crews from York and Selby, said: "One person was trapped in one of the vehicles and was released by fire crews who removed the vehicle doors using cutting equipment."
PC Bryan Townsend tweeted: "Both drivers from the vehicles are now on the way to hospital."
Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed that one person was taken to York Hospital with minor injuries, and another person was transported to Leeds General Infirmary with "more serious injuries," both by road ambulance.
There was a diversion in place at the roundabout prior to Riccall near North Duffield.
Motorists were asked to use alternative routes while emergency crews attended the scene.
