A TORTOISE has survived unharmed after a fire broke out in a vivarium containing the reptile at a house in York.
Two fire crews from Acomb and a crew from Huntington with their aerial ladder platform were called to the incident at a three storey property off Boroughbridge Road at about 6pm yesterday (March 3).
The fire was out when the crews arrived.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "It was caused by a heat lamp inside a vivarium which contained a tortoise. The tortoise was not harmed."
