A YORK-based firm founded in the city 17 years ago is to honour dedicated charity fundraisers at this year’s York Community Pride Awards.
Pryers Solicitors are returning to support The Press’s Community Pride awards, as the official sponsor for the Charity Fundraiser of the Year category for a fifth year.
The organisation is also encouraging residents to nominate people who have used innovative fundraising methods and put personal effort in to support good causes in the city.
CEO Neil Fearn said the company could not wait to hear about the ‘wonderful people’ who have been doing selfless work to help others in need.
He said: “Everyone on the team at Pryers Solicitors is incredibly proud to have been given the opportunity to sponsor this award for the fifth time running.
“Over the years, we have been humbled to hear the stories of the many industrious and wonderful people in York doing selfless work to help others and raise funds for important causes. We are certain this year will be filled with just as many inspirational individuals, and we are grateful to be able to help give these volunteers their well-deserved moment in the spotlight.
“We hope that others are inspired by the efforts of the community around us, and encourage anyone who thinks they would like to nominate someone they know to do so, so they can can get the recognition they deserve.”
Last year, Margaret Clark’s work raising money to help people with pancreatic cancer earned her the Charity Fundraiser of the Year accolade.
Her dedication to raising awareness of the charity included taking part in charity races, organising for York landmarks such as Clifford’s Tower to be lit purple to support the organisation and even turning her own birthday party into a fundraising event.
The York Community Pride Awards are backed by City of York Council and the main sponsor is York-based Benenden Health.
