MISCHIEF night could have started early this year with the fire brigade called out to incidents in York and Scarborough.

Firefighters were called out to a Heworth street after receiving reports of fireworks been set off underneath cars.

Crews were called out to Chestnut Avenue just after 9.45pm on Wednesday night. A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said there had been no apparent damage caused.

And the Filey crew was called out to a caravan park in Gristhorpe, near Filey, to reports of wheelie bin fires.

Firefighters were called just before 1.30am today and found two wheelie bins alight on arrival. The bins suffered 100 per cent fire damage and caused 30 per cent fire damage to a nearby toilet block.
