A GROUP of friends from York have set up a fundraiser for the RSPCA, which involves hand drawn portraits of pets.
Kerry Smith, Jane Lund and Tina Abbott have launched their fundraiser called ‘Badly Drawn Pets’ for RSPCA York Animal Home.
They are inviting York RSPCA supporters and pet owners to donate £10 and email a photograph of their pet in return for a hand drawn or painted portrait.
Tina said: “The only promises we can make about the portrait are that it will be unique, not that good, and will hopefully make people smile.”
They have a team of volunteers with “pencils at the ready” to create the drawings.
However, a few lucky entries will receive a painting by an artist from York. Tina added: “It’s luck of the draw.”
The team have between them adopted 11 dogs from RSPCA York.
Pictures of pets can be emailed to: badlydrawnpets@rspca-yorkhome.org.uk
Kerry Smith said: “We are hoping there will be a huge response.”
RSPCA Branch Manager, Peter Gorbert, said: “The York Animal Home is an independent charity and responsible for all of its fundraising.
“We’ve got a huge target to meet during the lockdown but our volunteers have been fantastic. It’s also nice that we can do something a bit uplifting.”
