A LARGE teddy bear has been keeping local residents that are stuck at home entertained during the lock down period of the coronavirus pandemic.

The big bear, known as ‘Big Ted’ to the locals, has been carrying out different tasks every day outside his home near the North Yorkshire village, Stillington.

His owners, Gill and Keith Midgley, place him in a different position every day, where he can be seen carrying out various activities.

So far, Big Ted has been playing darts, sun bathing, fishing, mowing the lawn, drinking a few beers and he has even had a picnic with some of his smaller friends.

Amanda Harrison, Gill's daughter and Keith's step-daughter, said: “Gill and Keith are full of ideas for what he might do next.”

Other local residents, including members of staff from the NHS, have commented on how he is bringing smiles and keeping spirits high around their community.

The bus drivers from Reliance have also said that they look forward to seeing Big Ted everyday, to see how he might be spending his day.
