On Friday I have an appointment at the Nuffield for an injection I should have had weeks ago. I am so excited as I have not been out of my front gate for weeks.
I have cleaned the car inside and out but will it start? What shall I wear?
I have lived in baggy T-shirts and tracksuit bottoms, slippers or garden shoes since lockdown. Shall I wear the new coat I bought before isolation? No it’s a bit posh for the hospital.
Will my best trousers still fit after all the chocolate and wine I have consumed in the past week (well it was Easter)? Will my make-up have all dried up? Will I be the most glamorous patient there on Friday? Will everyone have made the same effort? Can I expand my appointment out to perhaps half a day and then I can read fresh magazines and have a cup of coffee from the machine?

PS Thank you Stephen Lewis for the lovely article you did on my husband and I (Coronavirus: ‘we beat it - and so can you’ say elderly York couple, April 2). We have had many phone calls from people who were lifted by the story.
