EIGHT people were issued with fixed penalty notices by Humberside Police over the Easter holidays for breaching guidelines aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus.
A force spokesperson said the overwhelming response had been to adhere to the measures and stay at home.
Chief Constable Lee Freeman said he had asked officers and staff to talk to people and 'help them understand why the rules are in place and how everyone needs to pay their part.'
He said: “Over the weekend, we have issued eight fixed penalty notices to members of the public who have left us no other option.
"However, the majority of people have listened and worked with us and this is greatly appreciated."
But he said officers would use enforcement with anyone who persistently ignored their advice or refused to comply and breached Covid-19 legislation.
